Being Kind is Contagious
Kindness is contagious. Once you get addicted to it, you will always seek more. Unlike other addictions, having a kindness addiction has the potential to flourish for everyone who is around, the doer and the receiver.
Kindness is also contagious because it beautifies everything it touches. If one person with a single act of kindness can cause four more people to be kind to others, and so on, imagine what would happen if a million people started spreading acts of kindness. Studies show that while competing, a sports team has a higher percentage of winning when the players like each other.
Sometimes it might be easy to believe that the world is filled with more bad things than good ones, but this is not the case. As more and more people start sharing their stories of kindness, the action of kindness they have committed and how it made them feel, it has the potential to turn every ordinary action into an extraordinary one.
Whatever we give, we will get back. The kinder we are, the more kindness we will receive
In a world where you can be anything, Be kind 🧡
Let us all take a minute of our lives to reflect on the importance of kindness. If every one of us did at least one Random Act of Kindness every day, we might change the world, like they say even a little bit of kindness goes a long way. As you practice kindness regularly, you will also notice a substantial growth in your self-love and compassion -this includes not judging yourself harshly and not holding yourself to impossibly high standards.
Kindness restores faith in humanity. 🤝
When you do a Random Act of Kindness, it will create an experience that will keep people’s minds spinning with this unexpected gesture for some time.
Kindness gives life 🙂
In the film, kindness is contagious, Daria Mabra donates a kidney to her next-door neighbor, who she hardly knew. People watching the movie were so influenced by this idea accountable that they started a Kidney chain. A kidney chain begins when someone wants to donate a kidney out of the goodness of their heart. A specialized computer program will match donors and recipients across the country.. It also shows how compassion leads to success in the most basic way, by giving life to someone.
Humans are hardwired for kindness
Dr. Donald Pfaff says kindness is hardwired in human beings. When compared to other mammals, humans are born prematurely. By evolution, humans need care and affection not just from their parents but from their entire surroundings.
Michael Tomasello, an evolutionary scientist, says Homo sapiens are adapted for acting and thinking cooperatively in cultural groups. All the significant achievements of human beings are the products of not a single individual but individuals interacting. Humans empathize with one another and are wired to behave altruistically such that our immediate response to any situation is an unprompted and spontaneous kindness.
We live in a world filled with economic and social inequalities, and everyone must become aware of the importance of the Random Act of Kindness.
Go old school with your kindness
Whatever act of kindness we do has a way of moving from one person to another. From just a smile or a wave to reaching out to someone in need, kindness can be shown in any good old-fashioned way.
Being kind will improve one’s self-esteem and build empathy and compassion from within. Kindness impacts the general level of positivity people have and creates a ripple effect as good feelings tend to get passed along..
Kindness and health
You will be surprised to hear that an act of kindness can even lower your blood pressure. Yes, you heard me right. Kindness creates an emotional warmth and releases oxytocin, reducing blood pressure and improving overall heart health.
Our body releases Endorphins whenever we act kind, and guess what? Endorphins are the natural pain killers of the brain. Next time you experience pain, before running to the painkillers, try being kind or let thoughts of kindness even towards yourself fill you in and let your body calm down without added medication.
Today, depression has become such a common illness. Everyone feels anxious, from born babies to older people in this fast-paced world. Whenever you do a good act, it will lift your mood as the production of serotonin is stimulated through an act of kindness. This, in turn, reduces your anxiety and makes you feel happy.
Studies prove that Kind people have 23% less cortisol, popularly known as the stress hormone, and live a happy, stress-free life.
If you want a healthy mind and body, take an act of kindness as your everyday medicine.
Habit Bank
The trust formed through kindness builds accountability, commitment, and results. Create a habit tracker for yourself and make a note in it every time you perform an act of kindness. Within a month of starting the habit bank, you will realize how easy it is to be kind and how great it promotes your well-being. You will be addicted to this tracker before you know it.
Be Kind Always. It is possible
Kindness is one of the vital signs of being Intelligent. Compassion is said to be the foundation of a healthy brain. Kind people think proactively. As they realize good deeds will improve the whole world and not just them, they will spend their time, money, and other resources to give others what they need.
Studies have shown that people prone to prejudice have lower IQs than tolerant people. Apart from IQ, Intelligence includes the ability to be social and emotional. An essential part of emotional intelligence is being empathic.
Empathy is the ability to understand others’ feelings and react accordingly, which is what being kind means. In many Danish schools, empathy is taught as a subject like science and Mathematics. Many schools allocate one hour where children are taught to be kind and compassionate.
Kindness is one of the best Interpersonal skills ones requires to behave in a social environment. Kindness is the ability to celebrate another person’s success wilfully, which requires a great deal of courage and strength.
Henry James rightly pointed out, “Three things are important in human life. The first is to be kind, the second is to be kind, and the third is to be kind.”
Turning Ordinary to Extraordinary
Mark Twain says, “Kindness is the language that even the deaf hears and the blind see.”It is like a passport that has lifetime validity. As humans, we can only rise by lifting others. Whenever you see someone getting ignored, please find a way to include them. We, as humans, are always in need of recognition. So remind people of their worth and give words of encouragement wherever possible.
